K. Omari Wilkerson

K. Omari Wilkerson is a Charlotte native, classically trained vocalist, musician and music business professional who has spent years inside the city’s live-music community. A graduate of Elizabeth City State University with a degree in Music Business, Wilkerson has performed in opera, musical theater, R&B, soul, rock and other genres throughout North Carolina. Charlotte audiences also know him from Omari and the Hellhounds, a longtime fixture of the local live-music scene, including their Sunday-night residency at The Comet Grill. His work has placed him on stages throughout the region and alongside musicians across Charlotte’s club, theater and arts communities. For The Metro Record CLT, Wilkerson covers Charlotte’s music, nightlife and cultural scene from the perspective of someone who doesn’t simply observe it — he has lived and worked in it.
